Part 1 of 7,
This shoot is something I’ve been dreaming about for a long time, I could never find the right words to put it in or the idea together the way it needed to be so I put it on the back burner. My dear friend Lauren wanted to do a couple of shoots where we highlighted her makeup and coloring artistry; when we sat down and realized that we could do something bigger, something greater. The project started as featuring just a couple of women and their stories, then it became something even bigger. I asked one of my friends to be a part of the shoot and tell her story and when I told her she dreamed of the project being even bigger. As the project goes on I will explain more, but for now please let me introduce the first wonderful lady of our project, Pam. Read her story below and welcome to the Women of the World Project.
I sort of always knew in the back of my mind that day would come. September 29th 2017 I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Breast Cancer. It was my dad’s birthday. We lost my mother in 2006 to breast cancer. So this day was bittersweet. I also knew that no matter what breast cancer wasn’t going to define me. I would not roll over and die. I would conquer. And that I did. I am Pamela Mouton Butler, proud mother of 2 and even prouder grandmother of 4. For most of my children’s lives I was a single mom. In March of 2017 I met Joe, who is the love of my life. He has stood by me through it all and continues to do so. As of February 28th 2019 I am 1 year cancer free. I have so much life left to live and cancer is just a tiny bit of my story. It has made me more present and more grateful for the life I have and the life I get to live. Big Love to all!
